Jumping over the trainer’s legs can be set up in the same manner as jumping over obstacles. To begin with, Eazy hesitates and receives a click and a reward for showing a first approach by placing his paws on the trainer’s leg. Then he overcomes his doubts and eventually even accomplishes the jump over the leg through the hoop. (Photos: Nissen)

The signal described for the jump over the obstacle consists of an optical and an acoustic component. The cat sees your finger pointing over/behind the obstacle and hears the tapping sound behind it. If you practise this exercise often enough, your cat will understand the two signals, even if you only use one at a time. If she hears the tapping behind any obstacle, she knows that this is an opportunity to earn herself C & R by jumping over it.
